Deep tissue massage
1 hour
Deep tissue massage targets deep areas of muscle, while other massage techniques may focus on superficial body regions. The treatment begins with a warm-up of the muscles with light pressure, before massaging the targeted area with slow strokes and applying deep pressure with the hands, arms, or elbows. This works to release contracted muscles and tissues.
In a 60min treatment we can target specific problem areas or work on more core areas.
(90mins treatment time is also available, should a full body routine be required)
Deep tissue massage
30 mins
Deep tissue massage targets deep areas of muscle, while other massage techniques may focus on superficial body regions. Deep tissue massage works to relax the body and relieve tension. However, it may initially be uncomfortable due to the pressure on the deep muscle areas. The treatment combats stiffness and provides stress-relieving relaxation for the body and mind.
In a 30min treatment we can target specific problem areas or work just one core area, e.g. the back & shoulders or legs, etc.
Hot & cold stone therapy
Available as 30, 60 or 90 minute treatment.
Stone therapy: The treatment is based on ancient healing arts, using thermotherapy and cryotherapy to cleanse the body, relax the heart, ground the soul, and soothe the mind. Each stroke made with a stone is the equivalent of 5-10 strokes without, so results are achieved more quickly and efficiently than a traditional Swedish massage. The stones also allow for deeper work and pressure to be undertaken. The treatment can be delivered as a full body routine, or targeted to areas such as the back, legs, or head & face.
Hot stone massage: heated basalt stones are placed on the body or moved over the skin during the massage routine to relieve stress and tension, which deeply relaxes the body and promotes healing. The warm skin allows for a greater absorption of the massage oil, to also provide increased benefits post massage. Great for restoring tired aching muscles, increasing circulation & metabolism, and a deep state of relaxation achieved.
Cold stone massage: ice cold marble stones are placed on the body or moved over the skin during the massage routine to promote healing of an injury or trauma. The heat exchange between cold stone and warm skin allows for inflammation and bruising to be reduced and the rate of cell damage in the area to decrease, and in turn allows vessels to repair, decongest, tone, and strengthen. Great for soothing, numbing effect & reduced sensitivity in painful areas.
Hot and cold stones can be combined for greater effect in a treatment to boost movement during the dramatic, sudden, range of temperatures achieved from cold to hot, and hot to cold. Promotes a greater healing as vessels are alternately constricted and dilated, and overall sense of balance achieved. Calming & wellbeing as well as warmth & relaxation.
